Invoicing - neccessary?

Hi, I am a bit confused by the invoicing option in LV.
As a former Landlord Property Manager software user, I did not raise invoices then.
Is it possible to use LV without invoices? If so what, if anything, will I miss out on?
Looking at the forum, it seems that reconciling invoices causes people quite a few problems!
