How to manage a periodic tenancy

Postby landlordvision » Fri May 13, 2016 3:11 pm

I am currently investigating using your product and have set up an account for the demo version.

I am trying to set up a tenancy that started as a 6 month AST but on completion became a periodic tenancy. So the initial 6 month contract started on 1/2/14

I'm finding it difficult to understand how to set-up this up.

Do I use the rolling tenancy function? Changing this still leaves the tenancy in an expired state

do I just set the expiry to the end of the next periodic 6 months ?

If your periodic tenancy runs from month to month then you would just set the expiry date to the end of the current month, e.g. 31/08/2015, and also set the rolling tenancy flag. An automated process would extend the tenancy overnight when there's less than one month until the expiry date. When you need to end the tenancy you would remove the rolling tenancy flag and leave the tenancy to expire.
