Extend a Tenancy

Hi all,
What do you do if:
I bought an HMO with 2 tenants in it. 1 is on a weekly tenancy, I will convert him to a monthly (as soon as he has accumulated his deposit). The other has an existing monthly tenancy which ends next month. He wants to stay, so I need to produce an extension + an addendum as I am changing the bills and a couple of other internal systems which I want them to be clear about.
How to you use the system to produce the right document. I have been advised to start a new tenancy, but is this the right thing? He has been there 4 years, do I do an extension. How do I change the dates etc.
Many thanks
Michelle

Hello Michelle

For your second tenancy, by the sounds of it you need to issue a new AST. Expire the existing tenancy in Landlord Vision and create a new one with the dates of the extension, then you can create the addendum in the tenancy and add it to the AST. If you try and amend the dates of the existing tenancy then all of the historical data already entered will be lost

You can just extend the tenancy. To do this, simply tick the Rolling Tenancy flag before the expiry date comes up. If this date has already passed, then move the Expiry Date under Tenancy Details along one more month and tick it. If you go for this option, you will not be able to produce a new AST as explained above

Kind regards
Roy
